This is a fabulous unit to engage pre-schoolers with books. Long before they can read themselves, children enjoy choosing books to look at pictures or selecting the one an adult will read to them. Encouraging this independent choice is important in developing confidence around books – the first step on the road to learning to read.

Our Picturebook Tunnel presents the books at just the right height for under-fives. You can see more of the book covers than you can in many units designed for this age group and this encourages children to make their own choices. The book display is combined with a fun play element where the children can crawl through the tunnel. And there’s a wonderful extra surprise waiting inside – the tunnel is lined with mirror. The children can see different reflections of themselves as they move through it – endlessly fascinating!
